PreK & Kindergarten Registration

REGISTRATION DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

Kindergarten Registration Requirements:
Student must be 5 years old on or before August 15, 2026
All students must register at their assigned school, based upon home address

Registration info:  Please bring the following with you when you are registering for kindergarten: 

• Drivers’ License or picture ID of the parent/guardian registering
• Official (not a “mother’s copy) of the child’s birth certificate
• Proof of residency (utilities bill, insurance bill, rent receipt, etc)
• TN Immunization Form 
• Vaccines and physical examination must be up-to-date prior to school entry but not prior to registration day.

PreK Information: 
Sullivan County is allocated 9 Voluntary PreK classrooms.  These are funded through a federal grant and, by law, filled on a first-come, first-served basis, dependent upon income eligibility (guidelines here).  Each of these classrooms operates for a required 6 hours each day, nestled within the hosting elementary school’s regular school day.  Voluntary PreK Programs are available at the following schools:

• Bluff City Elementary
• Central Heights Elementary
• Emmett Elementary
• Holston Elementary
• Indian Springs Elementary
• Ketron Elementary
• Mary Hughes Elementary
• Sullivan Gardens Elementary

Sullivan County has one PreK classroom not based upon income eligibility.  The Discovery Academy, housed at Rock Springs Elementary School, is tuition based.  The programming is built around STEM education guidelines, including project based, collaborative learning opportunities, and operates the full school day (7:45AM-3:00PM).  Tuition is $500/month.

• Drivers’ License or picture ID of the parent/guardian registering
• Official (not a “mother’s copy) of the child’s birth certificate
• Proof of residency (utilities bill, insurance bill, rent receipt, etc)
• Prior year Income Tax Return showing full income for the year for all household members (if applying for Discovery Academy, this is not required)
• TN Immunization Form 
• Vaccines and physical examination must be up-to-date prior to school entry but not prior to registration day.

Families interested in registering their student for PreK should register at their assigned school if a program is offered there.   Families interested in the tuition based program should apply at Rock Springs Elementary School.
